Devynn was born full term on March 22nd, 2009. We had know about her heart defect since November 11th, 2008. During open heart srgery when she was 3 days old, the surgeons damaged the phrenic nerve. This nerve controld the diaphragms. She was unable to breathe on her own for 9 weeks. She was intubated for 4 weeks until her doctors decided to do a trach and g-tube.

Jasmine is the youngest of my four "legal" (vs Foster) kids. She was a 24 week gestation preemie with multiple congenital and acquired medical problems and disabilities. Somehow we, her family, did not see anything except a new baby -though others most certainly did - and let us know it! She was 16 when she died very quickly from a virus. She will always be sorely missed.

Marlee Abigail was born December 18, 2006. To all of our surpise Marlee had some issues upon birth. She was transfered to Riley Children's Hospital where she spent 3 weeks in the NICU and then 5 1/2 months in the IIUC. She has been vent dependent since arriving at Riley. She was trached at 10 days old, G-tube at 2 months, tethered cord released 4/08.

JD was born with a number of disabilities. To start he was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at 2 months, corrected with shunt placement. Diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type I at 4 months. Has had g-tube, trach, O2, and ventilator dependencies since he was 4 months old. JD has also been diagnosed with GERD and Scoliosis. Hi, my name is Kristi Mason. My precious little boy (Billy Mason) was born 7/9/98. He has Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (due to lack of oxygen at birth) secondary to Spastic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, CVI, Scoliosis, laryngomalasia, G-tube fed, Tracheotomy, seizure disorder (controlled) & developmentally delayed.

Meet Joshua Harris. Joshua is seven years old and will begin second grade this fall. We try to have Josh as fully included as possible in school, having him removed from his peers only for therapies and other special services. Josh loves being around other kids, especially his two brothers. Josh has excellent receptive language skills and signs yes, no, or 'uh-uh' appropriately for whatever he's asked. He loves to watch children's movies, especially ones that have lots of little kids, characters with silly voices, music and lots of color.

Hello, I would very much like to let all your readers know about my little girl Katarina. She was born on 9.11.95, 41 weeks of gestation. When I was pregnant with Katarina I had all the appropriate pre-natal care and scans that were available. There were no signs of abnormalities during any of the scans. I had great difficulty giving birth to Katarina (two days of contractions with no result) and eventually I was rushed in for an emergency caesarean section. Katarina was taken straight to special care because she had breathing difficulties.
