Nicola was born on the 16. October 2009, after what I thought was a really healthy pregnancy, at 42 weeks gesturation. Labour was straight forward and went well. Immediatly after birth Nicola struggled badly to breath. Everything from there and for the next 3 days is more or less a blur to me. She has been rushed away to be intubated straight away.

Luca was born on january the 14th 2009 at 25weeks weighing 2pound 3ounces, this was over his estimate weight of a pound or less. As you can probably guess the whole family where worrying at this time as he was born so prem. He spent his first 8 months of his life in a neo-natal unit.

My daughter was born 3 months premature and at 7 months she was diagnosed with subglottic Stenosis a narrowing of her airway. It was a shock at first to see her in that way when she had to have a hole threw her neck and to help her breath from a tube. Kara was ventilated for the first 4 weeks of her life due to having vocal cord palsy and had a tracheostomy at 4 weeks. She is fed via an NG tube as she can't swallow. Her MRI scan showed some abnormalities and it is beginning to look like she has cerebral palsy. At the moment she is still in hospital waiting for a diagnosis.
