Kira just had her surgery today to put in a trach. This is all brand new for us. She's had problems with breathing over the past year, especially when ill. This time she was sick, had pneumonia, needed to be intubated for the past week, then they did surgery this morning. They did find that her airway was extremely collapsed, and has a very narrow opening in it.

Ben is our first born child. He arrived seemingly healthy at 37 weeks on May 2, 2002. One day later, while still in the hospital he arrested in my arms. He was rushed to the NICU and revived after 20 minutes of no signs of life. He recovered slowly only to arrest again 4 days later.

Frank is an active 4 year old who enjoys spending time with his older sister Kathlynn, age 8, and his brother, Stephen, age 5. He love to swing in a hammock swing. He also loves to be around all the animals that we have, including our 9 month old Great Dane Elizabeth. He also loves school.

Sierra

Sierra was born on November 28, 2000. She is my second child, she has an older brother Ryan. We had decided to be induced after we found out that Sierra had Craniosynostosis (where the sutures in her head closed too early). Being induced turned out to be a good thing, we had a team of doctors and nurses ready to take care of Sierra the minute she was born.

Ashley Connor

Ashley Dawn Connor was born Aug. 21, 1992. She has a trach due to tracheomalacia, vocal cord paralysis and 90% of her upper airway is obstructed due to scare tissue from a 2 1/2 pound tumor around her neck when she was born. Ashely also has a g-tube, BPD, hypothyroid, seizure disorder, Asthma and C. P. She is also developmentally delayed. Now that I have told you most of her disabilities, let me tell you her abilities. She walks, she signs, she uses a Dynamite communication device. She uses a computer. She roller skates (we just don't tell anyone the wheels are tighten).

Devina Bailey

This is Devina Kurshae Bailey. She was born at 24 weeks gestation weighing at 582 grams (1lb. 4.50 oz.) and 12" in length on December 03, 1997. Devina spent five months in a neonatal intensive care unit and went through typically everything that preemie babies go through.

Joshua Dominguez

Joshua is now a year old, but had the trach surgery at a month old. He had Subglottic stenosis, stidor, narrowed airways, apnea, asthma, and reflux.

Update September 2000 - Joshua has had his reconstruction surgery and he is going very well.

Update, December 2001 - Joshua is now almost 3 and during great. He is learning speech by a therapist and is coming along fine.
