On February 7, 2003 Sophia Carole Brown came to make us a family. She was an extremely loving and loveable child. Everyone who met her fell under her spell. She had many handicaps but was perfect in our eyes. She was not like other children, but a whole other species - an Earthly Angel.

Tyler was born 11/24/06 his due date was 2/18/07.He was born at 27wks .My water bag broke at 21 weeks and I was admitted into the hospital on strict bed rest for a month. I was so scared (terrified) because I didn't know what was going on. Some of the doctors that I came in contact with were telling me to abort Tyler saying that he wouldn't serve and that he would have so many problems, but I was already in love at that time. Well I held on to Tyler for a whole month and was schedule for an emergency C-section due to Tyler being breached and me not having any amniotic fluid.

Tommy is a 33 weeker preemie born with severe multiple congenital heart defects and a birth defect to his esophagus called Congential Cricopharyngeal Achalasia (CCA), also known as cricopharyngeal dysfunction. At 4 weeks old, he had his first open heart surgery. A combination of prematurity and his CCA caused him to fail extubation 3 times. He was on the ventilator for 5 weeks.

Wren Michael Eccles was born 22 weeks and 6 days old. 585 grams. 12 in. long. He was trached in November of 2003, vent and o2 dependent (for now!). He is strictly g-tube fed, nissen fundoplication, He had a perffed bowel 1 week after birth, (illeostomy from 3 mo. old to 7 mo. old) reostimized, trached, g-tube, and nissen all in same surgery.

Update September 2005: Wren was decannulated on July 14, 2005. He had an upper tracheal reconstruction (LTR) along with his decannulation, and all has healed very smoothly so far.

Matthew McQuinn

Matthew was born in November 2002 just 9 days after I went to the doctor because I didn't feel well. Turns out I had severe toxemia and Matthew had to be delivered by emergency C-section at almost 26 weeks gestation. Born a whopping 1 lb, 9 oz, his lungs were severely underdeveloped and he needed a lot of ventilation. When he was 2 weeks old, he got a staph infection that damaged his lungs even further. In the almost 8 months that Matthew has been in the NICU, he has had pneumonia 3 times, a staph infection twice, and RSV.

This here is our beautiful daughter Makayla Caitlin Murray. She was born February 7TH, 2002 at 26 weeks and weighed 2lbs 1oz. She was so tiny and precious! But as beautiful as she is, she came into the world too early and a lot of complications followed. Makayla was hooked up to a ventilator to help her breathe when she was born. Makayla also has a Trach, Chronic Lung Disease, Vocal Cord Paralysis, some Hearing Loss (which I think is improving from when they did the hearing test), and she is G-tube fed.

Hi I am Lisa Weidner, I gave birth to my baby Charles at 22 5/7 weeks, he weighed 1lb 6oz, 12 inches. He is now 8 months actual age, 4 months corrected. He has been home with us since July 23, 2001. He is currently trached on a vent with a g tube. He has reflux which he had a Nissin done to help but the Nissin slipped a few ago. We have high hopes of weaning him off the vent in the spring. We are currently weaning him off Oxygen. He still has a SAT/ pulse monitor.
