Maggie was an emergency C-section at 33 weeks.  She was nonresponsive in the womb.  She was in the NICU for 8 weeks.  After  being home for 16 hours Maggie coded and was readmitted to the PICU due to a false track.  She has spent the majority of her life in the hospital.  She has an undiagnosed neuromuscular disorder.  She also has facial palsy, no blink, swallow, or gag reflex.  She has had 8 surgeries and multiple diagnostic tests.  Her brain is completely normal.  Though developmentally delayed she is learning and acts like a typical two year old.

Has anyone tried vital stimulation for swallow therapy?  Our current speech therapist recommends we give it a shot and I wondered if anyone has had success or not?  Apparently the field is split on it's effectiveness.
