Arianna is 5 years old little girl, who has Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. She was diagnose with muscular dystrophy at the age of 6 months. It took doctors a few years to finally tells us what type she had. By the age of 2 she under went a hand full of surgery's. The last surgery that was preform took her down a bumpy road that change her life. Arianna was place onto oxygen, none of the doctor could figure what cause her to need oxygen. Once she seen as lung specialist, we were told it was due to her MD.
As time went on, Arianna was on oxygen for a few month until she took a turn for the worst. It was July of 2006, Arianna had pneumonia. Her left lung had collapse and was intabated immediately. She had a few day that were up and down. After a week of this roller coaster, we finally decided to have her trach. The pneumonia impoved after the trach was place, this was the magic key to her new life.
Once Arianna was trach and place onto a ventilator it cure some of her other health problems. All this time she was been struggling to breath due to her CMD and burning to much calories (not being able to gain weight). She was severely under weight, Arianna weighed 17 lbs. for the first 2 years of her life. Once the trach was done the pounds started to come on. After a 3 week stay at the hospital, she double her weight in that short amount of time. Wow. We made a good choice for her. She is now currently 43 lbs. for the first time the doctor had to cut done her feeds. We don't what her to gain to much weight to fast, trying to keep it steady. To much weight gain to fast can affect her breathing.
Our precious princess has now been trach for three years and going strong. She is a very strong, hopeful, and bright girl. She is a fighter. She has a special kind of love.
