All About my Precious Angle Makayla. She was born Feb. 7, 2002 at 26 weeks gestation, weighing 2lbs 1oz. Being born so premature, meant a whole lot of complications to come. Makayla was hooked up to a ventilater right away because she could not breath on her own due to subglottic stenosis (narrowed airway). At 2 months old she had laser eye surgury. After three months of being on the ventilator, due to vocal-cord paralysis and subglottic stenosis, Makayla had to get a trach (breathing tube) placed in her throat. Then Makayla had a g-tube ( feeding tube) inserted cause she refused to bottle. Makayla came home from the hospital for the first time at 6 months but was in and out for several months after that. Makayla has had several laser surguries on her vocal cords to fix them so her tarch can eventually come out.
At present, she still has her trach and g-tube. She also wears hearing aids for mild to severe hearing loss. She has been diagnosed as having ADHD as well. Once so tiny and precious, now so pretty and full of life. Makayla is 6 years old (going on 13) and is senior kindergarten preparing for grade 1!! Makayla loves to play with her friends, she loves puzzles and books but her most favourite thing to do is play on our computer. She is a very smart girl with an amazing memory. She is such a happy little girl....."Makayla is definately living proof that miracles can happen!"
