Maleek is an active and mischievious little guy who loves books, computers, cars and motorcycles, and Japanese kanji characters. Maleek's Mommy is Irish-Canadian and his Daddy is from Uganda in East Africa. He was born in Japan and lives there now with his proud mom and dad. He will have a new brother or sister in August 2010. Maleek was intubated at birth and managed to extubate himself at one week old. He kept the doctors and nurses running and even then, we were all amazed by his stubborn determination. He got his trach at 6 weeks old. He has had a total of 3 surgeries and spent 2.5 months in NICU. He is now learning sign language and has found many other ways to communicate (mouth noises, blinking, facial expressions etc.). He has even created some of his own signs. We are proud of our little guy and his active, strong spirit. He teaches us something everyday!!
