Diego was born @ 29wks along with his twin Sergio on 1-5-06. Diego was not breathing and needed extenxive work to get him going. They were admitted to the NICU. Sergio was realeased in mid February, but Diego had to stay in the NICU until 9-21-06. He got his trach and g-tube in May 06'. We were told many times that he wouldn't make it out of the hospital, but he proved them all wrong! He has had many hospitalizations since then and was on a home ventilator for a while, but as of now he is on room air all the time!(Unless he gets a cold) He may be decanulated in the next few months! He is not walking on his own yet, and he never crawled. He doesn't speak yet he can squeel and scream though. He has made so much progress in the last year that we are full of hope for him and his future.
