Happy to say Jackson is doing great and hasn't needed any surgeries since last fall which was a relatively easy tooth extraction. We've been keeping in touch every other year with the amazing Dr's in Massachusetts's who did his non invasive, non scaring jaw distraction. We moved from Boston to Seattle in 2004 and since then Jackson's father and I have divorced and I have remarried and as you see from the pictures, Jackson is now an amazing big brother to healthy happy baby brother Henry! Jackson is in 3rd grade and has about 555 minutes of service on his IEP, he receives Spec. Ed, OT/Pt, ST and we also attend UW for ST 2x per week. Jackson LOVES golf and swimming, ball sports have been challenging as has riding a bike... so we stick to the quieter sports where he can concentrate and avoid contact sports--like he says "Mom, I don't want to do Karate, I don't want to get kicked.. " smart kid if you ask me! He is a pure joy to be with and in the last year, I have become aware of what a wonderful, sweet, well adjusted boy he is. Reading, math and speech continue to be big challenges, but Jackson is a very motivated hard worker and he is making slow progress. We'd really like to move more rurally, but concerns about what schools will be good for Jackson are in question. Would love to hear about any oral deaf schools anyone has had positive experiences with as Jackson is a unique boy and we'd love to find a perfect fit for him. He spends a lot of time in his typical class and is very well liked, but I know the noise level is very hard to handle at times. Glad to be stepping back toward a community of parents and families with other special kids!

It's been about 4 years since I've updated about Jackson. He is a happy healthy 3rd grader, and has just received the newest BAHA hearing aid, we are waiting to get it programed next month so that he can begin using it. It has noise canceling so that should be great!
