Kira just had her surgery today to put in a trach. This is all brand new for us. She's had problems with breathing over the past year, especially when ill. This time she was sick, had pneumonia, needed to be intubated for the past week, then they did surgery this morning. They did find that her airway was extremely collapsed, and has a very narrow opening in it. So this was definitely the right choice for us ad her.
I'm sure I'll learn as we go along, this is only Day 1, and there will be a lot of questions as well. But we hope to work with her, get her on the road to recovery, and one day have it removed!
