Hannah Grace Jones
Hannah was born full term on July 9, 1995. She aspirated within 24 hours and had to be flown to the NICU. There she as given a diagnosis of a chromosome deletion. She is missing 4 bands on her chromosome #1. (q21-25) She has a lot issues caused by the deletion.
Hannah was trached in Jan 99. She had been having a lot of trouble breathing and not catching her breath especially during neb treatments. She was in the hospital for 5 weeks following.
in August 2001 - Hannah had Laryngotracheal Separation surgery. Her chronic aspirations were just getting worse and her respiratory status had gotten a lot worse in the last year. This completely separated her upper airway (mouth &nose) from her lower airway (lungs). She can no longer breathe through her mouth and nose, only her trach.
Hannah's aspirations stopped after this surgery. We later found out that she had acquired broncho & laryngo malacia and was put on CPAP. She now uses a ventilator in mostly CPAP mode with a small breath rate.
she has a caring bridge page that I try to keep updated http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/hannahgrace95
