Luca was born on january the 14th 2009 at 25weeks weighing 2pound 3ounces, this was over his estimate weight of a pound or less. As you can probably guess the whole family where worrying at this time as he was born so prem. He spent his first 8 months of his life in a neo-natal unit. He was ventilator dependant for the first 3 months and was also tried on cpap via facial mask numerous times and failed. He had his trache in april 2009 after long discussions and further investigations. after having his trache was the first time for us all to see his face, it was one of our happiest days in the hospital. The next 5 months where a roller coaster fighting off many infection, including meningitus twice. When luca was finally discharged home on the 14th of september 2009 he stayed at home for a month whilst being weaned off of cpap and having time on the swedish nose. by week 3 Luca was fully weaned and completely off of cpap and oxygen we felt so proud. But yet again another set back he aspirated and had aspirational neumonia he ended up staying in PICU for a week. The day later we ended up taking him back to the hospital with the same symptons, this time we were told he had asthma and needed and inhaler and sent home. After 2days we ended up back in but this time for 6 weeks with many investigations taken place and some still ongoing. Updates soon.
