TrachKid Profile

Feb.jpg

Isabella was born at 25 weeks gestation. She had ROP plus disease which was treated with laser surgery . When she was three months old after failing many times to be removed from the ventilador she got a trach.
Now at age of 33 months Isabella had her reconstructive surgery at Children Hospital in Boston. It was a five hours surgery and its very successful.
She is sedated right now and they will  problable wake her up in 48 to 72 hours.
We feel blessed that everything is going as planned. She still will have her trach on for about a month before they try to decannulate her.

Back home...

Isabella only stayed at the hospital for one week. She was very depressed while we are there. She did not want to eat or do anything else...
We finally came home and she has back to her old self. She is eating , playing and VOCALIZING!!!!
She now can use the passy muir valve and she is learning to say worlds like Mama, Daddie, Book... its coming slowing and weak but she is getting there!
Her 3d bithday is coming up in July and on the first week  of july before her big day  her doctor will take look again to see if the operation was sucessful and if the trach can be removed!!!!!!!!!!!!
We praying that finally the trach can come off!
By the way! Four weeks after the operation Isabella pulled the trach out and she did not get blue!!!!
