Sarah was born a healthy, full-term baby. At 4 weeks of age she contracted RSV. Her case was so severe that she was required to be intubated for approximately 1 month. The trauma from the intubation tube was such that it caused her to have subglottic stenosis. After nearly four months at Connecticut Childrens Medical Center, we were finally able to go home. Shortly thereafter we were back, as Sarah now requires a vent. She uses the vent approximately 16 hours a day, more if she is sick.
