Well,my daughter Lillie had her last stent removed and her ENT has now decided not to do anything else to her for about six months to let her grow a little so it looks like she'll have her trach another year or so. Her body just doesn't want to do what it needs to do to remove it. At first I was upset with the news of her keeping it longer than expected but after I thought about it it's not so bad. Maybe by growing some when she does go back to have her second rib graph and start over again maybe her body will work with her and everything will work out right. Has anybody out there been through this with any of their kids and if so how did it work out? Any input helps.

My son had the same surgery
My son had the same surgery back in June 2010. He has developed scar tissue and they lasered it off. Was this a issue when your child had the surgery?
scar tissue
Yes scar tissue has been a big downfall for my little girl and we're still dealing with it! One week things will look good and the next week she'll have a mass amount of scarring. we can't seem to get past it! Hopefully your child won't have this problem!
reconstruction surgery
Hi so sorry to hear about your little girl. My son is five and just in may he had reconstruction airway surgery with rib graft in cincinnati ohio. Dr Cotton is the best trach doctor in the world. Carson would of had his trach forever if this surgery did not work and it is great he is doing wonderful. His airway is healing great. I had to come to reality with myself that as long as he is here that is all that matters. Yes life with a trach is so much work but if that is all they can do then i can except that because i have him. The surgery was so hard to go through. But it was all worth it. I know your little one will be ok just continue to pray and God will get you through. God bless and if you have any questions just let me know.
Thank You!
I am delighted to hear such great things about your little guy! It is wonderful to hear when things go so well for these little angels! My little girl is doing well with her trach and if it comes down to it and she is never able to have it removed I will be fine with that. It just means that that's the way God wanted to make her and to me she's even more beautiful because of it...She has survived so much already. Thank you for your kind words...it does help when I hear great things like your sons story. It gives me a little hope that things will work out well for my little girl too. Good luck with the rest of your adventure with your little guy and I hope things continue to go well for him!

Smiling keeps us going
Well, thank you again! Lillie is doing well lately...we just left her ENT visit and had another bronchoscopy done and as it stands right now she is doing great there hasn't been any new scar tissue growth and if she continues going this way her trach may be able to be removed sooner than expected! So yes I have to keep my head up and a positive outlook on everything!!
