Davia had a SSLTP on October 16 at the Montreal hospital for children. She was successfully decannulated on monday October 26. She is now going through narcotic withdrawal. I will update at a later date.
Well the single stage LTP was successful. The narcotic withdrawal is coming to an end. Davia has being a little stridorous since post extubation (removal of the breathing tube post surgery). However, it has gotten worse and can be heard all the time.
She was mouth breathing with nasal congestion and snoring when she sleeps. I spoke with the ENT Dr Manoukian via phone and was given instruction for her Peadiatrician. She was started on oral steroids, antibiotics, nasonex and normal saline nasal spray.
The nasal congestion is decreasing but it is a fight to get the spray in her nostril. I am a little worried and hope it is a cold and nothing serious. Her O2 saturation is 99 at rest but she desats with activities but once at rest she quickly recovers. I am trying to get an appointment to go to Montreal next week to see the ENT.
Any similar experience after single stage LTP? I must say that despite these issues it is a better life without the tracheostomy.
