Vital Stimulation for swallow therapy

Has anyone tried vital stimulation for swallow therapy? Our current speech therapist recommends we give it a shot and I wondered if anyone has had success or not? Apparently the field is split on it's effectiveness.

We have been doing Vital
We have been doing Vital Stim since November 2008. We have not had success (Garrett failed his second swallow study yesterday). It doesn't hurt them, so I would recommend you try it, you never know! I am disappointed that it hasn't worked with Garrett, but I am glad we gave it a shot. His ST thinks we should do it for one year, but everything I've read and another ST that I have spoken to makes it sound like it's time for us to take a break from it. I'm still trying to get over yesterday's results, so the decision to keep going with it or not is for another day ;)
