Tips and tricks

Hi everyone,

I would like to find out how you are bathing your kids without water running down the trache. Nicola is 11 months old and it is a nightmare to rinse her hair after her bath and impossable to keep her swedish nose dry and water out of the trache-tube.

Thanks,
Lucy

bathing

For the bath: I used a "ducky tub" it's inflatable it sells at Wal Mart.
Hair washing: We wash Brooklyn's hair before the trach change. So she gets a hair washing once a week. But it's a thorough one. I used to use a wet wash cloth, but it really didn't do a good job.
Be careful! It wasn't until Brooklyn was 2 1/2 that I first put her in the big bath tub. She doesn't like to stay in very long so that is good.

Thanks everyone, i am

Thanks everyone,
i am going to try the washcloth. Am already doing that for wetting her hair, guess i'm just a bit too generous with the shampoo

tip

hello my son Carson just got his trach out in may with reconstruction airway surgery and when i would bathe him we would use a bottle o baby shampoo deluted with water and i would wash his hair with that and then use a wash cloth to get the soap out with that a little wet. It seemed to work the best.  He had had his trach since he was 2 months and i hope your little one is doing well.

I use a very wet washcloth

I use a very wet washcloth and a very small amount of baby shampoo to wash Clintons hair.  However, he has short hair and that does make it much easier.
