Aspiration Pneumonia due to acid reflux

My son keeps having bouts with aspiration pneumonia and this is due to his feeds not working for him, he has a g-j tube and we feed him through the j. He tolerated this well for awhile untill he ripped his g-j tube out, than it was replace with a mickey button g-j tube. Ever since this happend Jayden has not been able to tolerate his feeds unless we drain his g-port and run the secrections back thru after his feed of 21 hours is done. He has been hospitalized with this pneumonia at least 5 times in the last 5 months. It's so frustrating!!!! Riley's Childrens Hospital said that they couldnt do a full nissen on him since his stomach hasnt grown since they did the partial at 2 months of age, they have researched him and found nothing else to be wrong and he is on acid reflux medicine and still has the reflux, does anyone else have this issue?????? I feel helpless and wish I knew what else I could do for my son! Somebody help me!

nissen

hi, my name is nellie. My son alex has a Nissen Fondoplication. He got it done because the Nexium 10mg was not working for him, and the reflux was so bad it was affecting his trachea. so the surgery lasted 3 hrs. it was done laproscopicly so his surgery site is very tiny. maybe u can try a second opinion. Alex had is surgery done by DR. Jensen in Monroe Caroll JR. @ Vanderbilt Children hospital.

is it possible....

is there any way that you can do small bolus feeds instead of continuous feeds? Is he on Reglan, this may help although it may make him feel cruddy at first but seems to help with digestion/motility. Is he on Prevacid...or zantac? Get those reflux meds increased if needed. i hope you get it figured out. Sounds way over my head with the type of tube he has, my daughter only has a regular mickey button g tube and no fundo.
