MY little girl just had her fifteenth hospital stay and she is not
quite seven months yet. She was found to have an H type
TachealEsophiagel Fistuala at two months. She went in the day after
they found it for the repair and was intubated for nine days and after
two unsuccessful extabitations she was taken to the or and finally it
worked we went home a few weeks later thinking that is was over we did
find a partial vocal cord paralysis but besides a weak cry I thought
she would be fine. Boy was i wrong after about a week of being at home
I heard her start grunting one night and rushed her to a hospital close
to my house next thing I knew they had called life flight and were
sending her to the children's hospital 30 miles away. We stayed there
for days learning that more had become paralyzed but we were sent home
then after being told she will get better with time well that was first
one many middle of the night flights and rides up there and three-ten
day stays and being sent home thinking it wouldn't happen again well in
kept happening and all the things the kept trying stopped working and
the next thing I knew I was begging for one of the best things that
ever happened to us a Trach!!
