Cough Assist Treatments???

HI Just wondering has anyone had to use the cough assist to loosen up secretions? The Pulmonologist has prescribed it for Tatum but every RT we have talked to is unsure about the use of this machine on an infant so young. Any info helps

My daughter Ally has used a cough assist and she is not even two yet. When she was first prescribed the machine it did help her while she was sick to loosen up secretions but then the doctors didnt want to take her off of the machine so it became a pain. The machine is good if your child actually needs it but i dont suggest using it for long periods of time cause it can damage your childs lungs..in my opinion. It is very important to make sure the pressures are set correctly because your childs lungs are still small and growing and you dont want to over inflate them which can do damage. I personally dont care for the machine.
