Homeward Bound...

Well we have gotten a planned discharge date after 5 long months our baby boy will be coming home soon. My husband and I were just wondering if there were any recommendations on a type of home Crib that would work for our boy Tatum...He is on the vent and all the other necessities but any opinions will help up get situated thank you

Any crib will do. Get a table next to the crib, a high table works great. make sure you have good lighting, have a fan. A phone nearby. A flashlight. Keep the battery on the charger all the time. Have a back up vent, a back up suction machine (one stationary, one portable), the pulse ox may crap out on you after a while, but you only get one as far as I know.
I ask for 6 circuits per month of each kind. I use the 4x4 gauze for the trach. Be careful to use Good cotton swabs when you clean around the trach site, the cheap ones break off and may go in the stoma.
Or you can take a 2x2 and a gloved finger and clean the trach site that way too. We use 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and purfied water.
check out www.myspace.com/brooklyn31407 and you should see some pics of our set up. We had the crib in the livingroom for a while then when we were ready we took her upstairs to her room at night.

We use 2 cameras on her at night. It's the Summer monitors with nightvision. They are great! One camera on her pulse ox, and one camera mounted on the wall to see her in her crib.

We have a small table next to her crib upstairs for her suction machine and her pulse ox machine and diapers.
We had a 10 L oxygen concentrator when she came home, but traded it in later when her O's came down.

Any questions, lots of here to lend an ear.

Best of luck and be careful!
